The RTS Hotline is a free, confidential phone line for anyone who has been hurt by sexual violence. Our hotline counselors provide crisis intervention to survivors of sexual assault and their families and friends 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Some survivors call who are in a crisis situation at that moment. Other times, a survivor calls to seek support for something that happened weeks, months, or even years ago. Some call because they need legal or medical advice, some because they need referrals to other services.

Many friends and families of survivors call because they struggle to know how to be supportive to a loved one who was hurt. They want to help, but they are not sure how to say and do helpful things. Our volunteer counselors are trained to gently coach "significant others" on how to be supportive.

Counselors receive at least 1,000 calls per month from San Mateo County residents.
