Accompaniment And Advocacy
We support survivors of sexual assault in a variety of settings, including medical exams,
police interviews, and the courtroom. It can be helpful and comforting to have someone with
you who has expertise in supporting survivors of rape.
Anyone who seeks medical care related to a sexual assault, reports an assault to law
enforcement, or has to go to court is entitled to an advocate from Rape Trauma Services.
Advocates are available to provide emotional support and answer questions. If a survivor
decides to have a medical exam following a sexual assault, advocates can meet her or him at
the hospital and stay throughout the procedure. Advocates will also meet with survivors at
any law enforcement agency.
If you need immediate support please call our 24-hour hotline 692-RAPE
(7273), or for more information, call our business line (650) 652-0598 to speak to a staff
member or leave a message in the general voicemail. Unless you specify an emergency, someone
will get back to you within 48 hours.
