Respecting Boundaries is an interactive series of workshops focused on preventing gender-based bullying and sexual harassment. This skills-based workshop uses core components from the evidence-based Shifting Boundaries curriculum. During the series, students will:

  • Practice establishing and communicating boundaries
  • Learn skills around identifying feelings
  • Develop understanding on the impacts of harassment and bullying
  • Feel empowered with ways they can help create safer environments in their school communities

RTS educators can also be booked for staff workshops and other school events.

    Middle Schools

    Day/Session 1 - Boundaries

    Through lively discussion and activity, students explore personal boundaries and learn to recognize the social cues that help them determine when they are crossing the boundaries of others.

    Day/Session 2 - Consent and Sexual Harassment

    Using a variety of age appropriate visuals, RTS educators lead the class in a lesson on consent and the different types of sexual violence. Students come away with knowledge of what consent is and isn't and facts vs. myths regarding sexual assault.

    Day/Session 3 - Gender Stereotypes

    How do harmful gender stereotypes perpetuate violence and discrimination? Students delve into this and other questions regarding gender based violence during a student-led discussion and spirited activity that keeps students engaged while learning about how they can help prevent violence.

  • Professional Workshops for School Staff

    RTS facilitates professional workshops with school staff regarding:

    • Consent & trauma basics
    • Supporting survivors and handling disclosures
    • Human trafficking and commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC) per the 2017 CA Human Trafficking Prevention Education and Training Act
    • Reporting protocols in San Mateo County
    • Developing protocols for sexual assault/harassment incidents at school events
  • Resource Fairs

    RTS educators are available to provide information about our services at resource fairs or other school and community events.

Changes/Reschedule Policy

RTS educators have a variety of responsibilities outside of the classroom (advocacy, crisis intervention, accompaniments). As such, we will do our best to honor requests for rescheduling or changes to presentations that are asked with a minimum of a two week notice but cannot accommodate requests with less than a two week notice.
